Keep in mind however, if you get into a tight situation and you happen to be playing as the Barbarian, you can use the "shout" ability to remove all the daggers from attacking you, allowing you to get a few sneaky jabs into the Fountain before he can respond. The Vertical dagger attack is relatively easy to dodge, as the Fountain telegraphs the attack relatively early, allowing you to get into a safe position as soon as you can. He has 4 main attacks his regular sword attack (you do NOT want to get hit by this), a vertical dagger attack, a horizontal dagger attack and a spear attack.

When fighting the Fountain, you want to kite him as much as possible, taking quick swings at him as he walks towards you. The Fountain is much harder then the first stage, as he hits like a brick with hard to evade attacks. When you do kill him however, he will drop roughly 4 chicken legs and magic potions which should get you up to a reasonable health and mana for his next form. Having said that, should you be using the Lich, I reccommend that you go grind a bit to get your health up before the battle, as if he hits you even a few times, you will be dead.

As the entrance to the final battle is before you enter the castle, you should always be at full health for this battle. He mostly uses amplified magic attacks like the Axes, Blade Wall and Daggers, but he will also hit you hard, should you get close to him. The first stage of the battle (With the Legendary Knight Johannes) should be easy enough, provided you are an adequate level for him. He has two forms in your final battle with him one being his human form and the other being "The Fountain", a mixture between Johannes and the Fountain of Youth. He is also the writer of the various diaries that you find scattered around the game. The Final Boss of Rogue Legacy is the Legendary Knight Johannes who killed the king.
